HUNT BUILDING COMPANY SECURES MAJOR MILITARY HOUSING BID AT MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE
EL PASO, TEXAS – (October 18, 2006) – Hunt Building Company, Ltd., announced that it has been selected by the United States Department of Defense to design, develop, and construct military family housing units at Mountain Home Air Force Base approximately 50 miles southeast of Boise, Idaho. The award followed a competitive bid process by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Seattle District.
The Mountain Home Base project is expected to cost $50.9 million, and includes demolition of 154 family housing units and construction of 171 new units on base property near Boise, Idaho.
The issued contract calls for Hunt Building Company, Ltd. to design, build, and replace the housing, while ownership and management of the property will remain with the U.S. Air Force. The new construction will provide Air Force personnel and their families with a civilian-comparable, high-quality residential living experience, which Air Force spokespersons indicate is fundamental in retaining career servicemen and -women.
Hunt Building has been recognized nationally as a provider of high-quality military housing construction, receiving numerous awards from both private and military sectors for design ingenuity and building integrity.
The Lead Estimator for the project was Mario Gonzales, Senior Estimator for Hunt.
