Hunt Building Company Breaks Ground on Major Military Project
Construction and renovation begins on first phase of over 1,000 housing units at Nellis AFB.EL PASO, TEXAS – (August 22, 2006) –
Hunt Building Company, Ltd., announced that it has broken ground on one of the largest military privatization projects in the company’s history. The development begins following Hunt’s selection by the United States Air Force, following a competitive bid process, to design, develop, construct, and renovate military family housing units at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Nellis AFB project involves the construction of 815 new units and the renovation of 363 units, totaling 1,178 housing units on 344 acres. Additional amenities, such as clubhouses, sports facilities, neighborhood centers, and jogging and hiking trails will also be developed. Pinnacle, a leading residential real estate management company headquartered in Seattle, Washington, will manage the property.
The project for Nellis AFB will provide military personnel and their families with a civilian-comparable, high-quality residential living experience. Air Force spokespersons indicate that this is fundamental in retaining career servicemen and women.
“We are proud to provide the military families at Nellis with the safe, comfortable, high-quality homes they deserve,” said Robin Vaughn, lead project developer for Hunt Building on the Nellis proposal. “Hunt will remain focused on its total commitment to the highest standards within our industry to ensure these families and others enjoy civilian-comparable housing.”
Hunt Building Company began its emergence as the foremost builder of military housing in the United States in 1970, and today has built more military family-housing projects in the United States than any other entity. Overall, the company has built approximately 68,000 housing units, with more than 51,000 of those units completed for every branch of the U.S. Armed Services. The company has completed military projects in 38 states, as well as in Puerto Rico and Guantanamo Bay.
