HUNT BUILDING NAMED NATION’S
4TH LARGEST MULTIFAMILY BUILDER
EL PASO, TEXAS – (July 12, 2007) – Hunt Building Company, headquartered in El Paso, Texas, was ranked 4th among the nation's top builders of multifamily units in 2006 by Multifamily Executive magazine and Builder Magazine. The ranking is based on Hunt’s 4,371 units started in 2006, and is up 73% from units started in 2005 and a rank of 15th largest.
The magazines’ annual top rankings issues highlight the country’s largest builders, and name the Top 50 Multifamily Unit Owners as well as the Top 50 Multifamily Rental Builders. In the rankings, Hunt Building was also listed as the 26th largest multifamily owner in the U.S., with 31,507 units owned by Hunt Building or its affiliates. The current listing is up 28% in units owned, and up from a rank of 27th largest in 2005.
Woody L. Hunt, Chairman of Hunt Building, attributed the company’s strong jump in multifamily units built mainly to military public-private venture contracts. “Hunt Building’s core focus has been to provide the U.S. Department of Defense with design and construction of quality military family housing,” said Hunt. “In 2006, we received a number of substantial awards, including an increase in awards for the military’s public-private venture programs.” Hunt added that the company will broaden its pursuit of public-private venture business for the military as well as other governmental areas. “We see continued significant opportunities for Hunt in the public-private venture areas,” he said.
