Hunt Development Group Opens Albuquerque Office
El PASO, TX – (April 3, 2007) - El Paso-based Hunt Development Group, LP announced the company has opened a regional office in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The office will be located in the Albuquerque Plaza in the city’s downtown area.
Gary Sapp, President of the Southwest Division of Hunt Development Group, will be heading the new office. He has over 31 years of experience in real estate development, financing and asset management, and has been with Hunt since 1991. Sapp’s responsibilities with Hunt Development include identifying real estate land investment and development opportunities in major Southwestern markets, including Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
In addition, Hunt Development has appointed two new officers to the company who will work from the Albuquerque office.
Jim Dobbie will serve as a Senior Vice President for Hunt Development Group. Dobbie earned a B.A. degree from Southern Methodist University and attended the University of Shopping Centers’ School of Retailing. He has been active in commercial real estate since 1996 and in 2001 was named Chief Operating Officer with New Mexico-based Goodman Realty Group. In that post, Dobbie oversaw the property management, construction, and maintenance division that maintained all of that company’s assets.
Hunt Development Group also named Trenton Stafford to serve as Vice President in the Albuquerque office. He has a B.A. in Finance from Oklahoma State University, and was a Senior Vice President and Colorado Market Manager for BOK Financial Corporation in Denver, Colorado. Stafford was responsible for all aspects of market growth in the Colorado region for commercial and residential real estate product lending.
Mr. Stafford also worked for the Bank of Albuquerque, N.A., a subsidiary of BOK Financial from 2001 to 2004, where he served as Vice President of Commercial Real Estate and was responsible for product lending in New Mexico.
Jim and Trent are responsible for managing the completion of over $500 million of development projects currently under way in New Mexico and sourcing new opportunities in New Mexico markets.
Hunt has deep New Mexico roots in its business history. In addition to a Hunt-family legacy in New Mexico beginning in the late 1800’s, various Hunt companies have been developing and building properties across the state for over thirty years. “We have been investing our financial and human capital in New Mexico projects for three decades,” said Sapp. “These are significant public and private development and construction projects ranging from housing projects to commercial development. Our work here is growing, so opening a permanent, professionally staffed office there was a logical extension for us and we look forward to continuing our commitment and investment in significant New Mexico opportunities,” he said.
To date, Hunt has completed over 30 major projects in New Mexico. These include the recently completed 1,078-unit military family housing privatization project at Kirtland Air Force Base; the 400,000 square-foot retail development, Plaza at Cottonwood; and the first phase of the ABQ Uptown development, which is New Mexico’s first lifestyle center. Hunt has also been selected as part of the development team on the Albuquerque multipurpose Downtown Arena project and is the developer of a mixed-use project in downtown Santa Fe.
